Hummingbirds zip up and down and in and out of flowers so fast that it’s hard to see them clearly. But a new study – under high speed cameras – has revealed some surprising facts about how hummingbirds fly and how they catch bugs. The camera footage showed that these birds don’t catch insects with the tip of their beaks as was thought. They rush at the insect with a wide open beak and the lower half of the beak bends downward half-way along its length, even though it has no joint!
