Romance in the time of recession?  Pyaar in the time of the pink-slip?  Habib Faisal’s script and Nupur Asthana’s rom-com showcases hearts & souls being challenged in the time of hedonistic consumerism and is a cool & fun premise which goes awry for several reasons.

For one, the script needed to be more witty & innovative with sharper comic scenes that go beyond the obvious.  Two, while the lead pair are fine individually, there seems to be a distinct lack of chemistry between them.  The Fashionista Sonam and the guy-next-door Ayushman just don’t jell – despite the hot bikini scene, smooches & coochie-coo stuff!  Thirdly Rishi Kapoor, as the Kill Joy Dad does his best to lift the film with his loud antics and partly succeeds, but in the end appears to be more of a cardboard cutout than a real-life character.  His best efforts clearly are defeated by a script that goes over-the-top.

Bewakoofian is a good idea gone terribly wrong because despite the good intentions and work by its actors, it loses the plot along the way and in the process, loses its audiences!/
