Been there, done that

 

 

This is with reference to your article that appeared in the TSI (21- 27 May) titled “Mao in Gurgaon”. The journalists have presented a detailed account of a problem that plagues many unreported sections of our society. Having recently stayed in Gurgaon’s rural regions myself, I found some of the sentiments expressed in the article rather familiar. The most striking aspect of the whole scenario is the source of all these guns, ammunition, weapons etc. In the course of informal chats with certain members of the community that I interacted with in Gurgaon, it became apparent that even they themselves were puzzled & baffled regarding the provenance of these deadly tools of destruction. It is my earnest hope that the authorities, municipalities, police & all interested agencies whether governmental or not, focus their energies on terminating the supply of these fatal arms. If the impressionable people who feel that their only salvation is to become Naxalites, are deprived of their access to the infinite plethora of guns, then perhaps they may resort to more non violent means of protest. My gratitude to your reporters & editorial team for producing such bold & thought provoking journalism.
