Bare necessities...

 

 

Apropos the write-up on Public health, 'Beyond glittering India' (TSI November 26, 2007), brought out a naked truth. While urban in India is enjoying benefits of star grade hospitals; the rural poor are lagging far behind and are in short of even bare minimum amenities. No doubt India is progressing tremendously in many areas in spite of the great brain drain. But unfortunately, the rural medical sector has always been neglected. The time has come to seriously think about them and their health. The authorities should at least meet the minimum needs of the PHCs in villages. If Kerala can achieve a higher standard than that of US, other states too can surely follow suit. There must be a feedback system from the general public about the facilities they are receiving through these centres.
