While assuming the office of the CBI Director, Amar Pratap Singh said that if he has concrete evidence, he would not hesitate in taking action against anybody in the power hierarchy. A 1974 batch IPS officer from Jharkhand, Singh said, “The agency works by the rule of the law. Whatever evidences come to us or whatever evidences that we examine, whoever the person is, big or small, if we have evidence, we will take action against him or her.”
It will be really great if the newly appointed CBI chief could keep his promise because the agency is often accused of working for the ruling party and the government. Whenever an inquiry is handed over to the CBI, it is generally assumed that it has been done so in order to sabotage the reality. Recently, the Supreme Court came hard on CBI over the lack of proper investigation into the 2G scam.
Talking about 2G Scam, Singh, who has been a special director with the agency for two years, said he will see what the court’s concerns are and try to address them.
A post-graduate in history from Delhi’s St Stephen’s College, Singh said that under his stewardship, the agency will try to crack the mystery behind the Aarushi murder case.
The new CBI director also said that the agency will not succumb to any pressure. Again, the question that arises is - Is Mr. Singh sure? Will he or his team work without bowing to an external or internal pressure?
If what Mr Singh says is true, then we will have all politicians, corporate pimps and all corrupt officers behind bars. Hope this day come soon. Please, Mr. Singh, abide by your pledge and the whole country will be grateful to you.
