Another Falak?

India’s IT hub is once again in the news. But this time for the bad reason. A pervert father was arrested by the city police on Monday for torturing a three-month-old baby girl.

 

Battling for life in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the government-run Vani Vilas hospital, the baby's head is severely injured and there are bite marks on several parts of the body.

 

Burnt marks too have been found on girl's body.

 

Umar Farook, 25, an employee of a commercial shop in Shivajinagar in Bangalore's central district, was picked up after his wife Reshma Bano complained to the police that he had been torturing the baby to kill her as he wanted a boy.

 

The other story doing the rounds is that after getting married in 2010, Farook had been pressurising his wife to bring in more dowry. When she got pregnant, he asked for a baby boy and was deeply upset after the baby girl was born. He had asked his wife to abandon the child in the hospital, according to a source.

 

Not bowing to his diktat, Bano got the baby girl back home and started looking after her. But this created tension in the house and Farook started torturing her.

 

Bano's close relative Tousif told TSI: “The child went to coma soon after Farook hit on her head. She is being treated in the ICU. The doctors have not yet informed us about the condition of the child. We don’t know what will happen. Farook has been torturing his wife since the marriage. We thought that everything would be fine once the couple was blessed with a child. But, it didn’t happen. He continued to torture both wife and the child. He wanted to kill the child.”

 

Bano said: “I want my beloved child. I have lodged a complaint against him. He wanted a baby boy. When I delivered the baby girl, he started torturing her as well. He attempted to kill her. I don’t know whether my child will survive or not. I am ready to give up my husband for my beloved child.”
