The 29-year-old English player, James Anderson experienced problems in his right quadriceps after the third Test at Edgbaston and will be monitored over the next 48 hours.

National Selector, Geoff Miller, said that Chris Tremlett has also failed a fitness test and will not be available  for the fourth Test.

England will play against India at the fourth Test without bowler Chris Tremlett and James Anderson. Graham Onions has been called up as a precautionary bowling cover.

Anderson was in a superb form during the ongoing series with India, taking 18 wickets at 24.27 as England claimed an insurmountable 3-0 lead in the four match series.

England has defeated India to claim the first rank, while Anderson's displays have seen him rise to second in the Test bowling rankings.

Tremlett played in the first Test at Lords, which England won by 196 runs, taking four wickets, but a back injury saw him miss the second Test at Trent Bridge and the following match at Edgbaston, with Tim Bresnan excelling in his place.
