An Expensive Education

 

 

Reflecting on the stark reality of the RTE in the editorial by Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri (TSI, April 19-25) – education today has become an expensive investment and in a way also an indulgence and luxury, which only a few lucky ones can avail. And on the other side it has become an easy and most lucrative commercial venture. RTE, which has come quite late in the day for a democracy, is a laudable and welcome bill. No doubt, the awareness and importance of education has really caught the minds and psyches of middle and lower classes of all regions and has also ensured them that education is the only valuable thing.
