Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Capt Amarinder Singh on Saturday predicted that Congress would be winning at least 70 seats in the Assembly Elections to be held on January 30 asserting that the Shiromani Akali Dal was faced with mass rebellion.

Capt. Singh claimed there was a substantial swing of about seven per cent away from the  Akali Dal which could lead to the loss of 27 seats and direct gain to the Congress.

His logic was that former finance minister Manpreet Singh Badal's People's Party of Punjab was damaging the Akali Dal in all the 117 assembly segments which was adding up great advantage to Congress.

He asserted that the Akalis were now scared about the Rs 1 per kg Atta schemre and that people across the country would get once the Food Security legislation got enacted. He said even for the Atta-Dal scheme, the Akali-BJP government was getting ten thousand tonnes of wheat every month from the centre only.
