Over the past two decades or so, blood has been pouring out from all the corners of Kashmir. The times gone by have seen the massacre from the Lal Chowk to the Assembly Hall. Moulana Farooq was murdered, Abdul Gani Lone was assassinated, Sheikh Abdul Aziz another Hurriyat leader succumbed after police fired at him, and even Omer Abdullah had a close call. Every episode is history, which speaks of a tragic story. However, the story is yet to reach its conclusion.

Few days ago, senior National Conference leader, Ali Mohammad Sagar had a close shave after a gunman fired indiscriminately at him near his ancestral house. Eyewitnesses, and even Minister himself, says that it is a miracle that he is alive. Although Sagar is unhurt, his bodyguard lost his life as he got wounded and succumbed on the way to hospital.

It is not for the first time when Ministers and high profile personalities are on the radar of unidentified gunmen. History books are full with the names of those personalities who had a close call with death and even in lot of cases gunman successfully became the assassin.

Infamous assassinations have one thing in common; each time the assassin was unidentified gunman. Big question mark on such episodes is that facts never erupted. Or else they were buried with intent.
