Although the nation seems to be in oblivion, your views on “3 Idiots” were a clarion call for all to stop the education system from imminent ruin (TSI, Jan 11-17). It is regretful that people are crazy to equip their children with high degrees without taking into account the passion and prospect concerned. Astonishingly, the present day expensive education has been the privilege of the affluent class. The parents, teachers and students are becoming mute spectators to the educational system falling apart. At such a critical juncture, awareness on massive scale and driving thoughts, like that of Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri and director Rajkumar Hirani, are a welcome relief from the life corroding system. Some steps that can make education more beneficial: (1) Qualified, talented, committed and well-trained teachers should be appointed in all educational institutes. (2) Adequate feedback should be given to the students to inculcate in them the 9Ps (as mentioned earlier in an editorial by Prof Arindam Chaudhuri)
(3) Education should be free from commercialisation and political ill-will.
