A unique feature

 

 

Congrats for the feature "90 + and still voting" (TSI, May 4-10). I must compliment the TSI team for coming out with such a unique theme, featuring members from the earlier generation who still repose faith in our politicians and continue to exercise their franchise. Their sense of commitment should serve as an eyeopener to the urban electorate of today who shy away from voting on some pretext or the other. Almost all the men featured in this article have distinguished themselves in one field or the other and though none of them have drifted into politics they all retain a very high level of civic consciousness. Justice VR Krishna Iyer, a champion of the poor and the downtrodden, for instance continues to pen articles that could serve as a guide for a whole generation. His clarity of thought and the conviction with which he puts across his views are stunning. While every other journal continues to write reams about the shenanigans of politicians and covers the hustle and bustle of political campaigns, TSI as always has served from the beaten track and come out with this admirable cover story.
