A party in disarray

This refers to your article, “The lotus wilts” (TSI, August 2-8) that aptly assesses the depressing situation in the country’s main Opposition party, BJP where the leaders are all pulling in all different directions and are weakening the party’s core. It is evident that party President Gadkari’s diktat no longer runs and the equations are fast changing with a new coterie. His inept handling of party affairs and lack of a charismatic personna and presence of leaders like Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and Ananth Kumar have played havoc with party’s affairs. It is high time that the party President should pull up his socks in a way that the errant leaders are forced to tow the party line. BJP can no longer lean on its allies and if it has to make a dent in the UPA government’s fortunes, then it has to get its act together fast.
