A heartfelt tribute

 

 

Just read about the history of Mumbai (TSI, Dec 8-14) and tears fell like spring from my eyes. Although I am a doctor and have no aesthetic sense but my heart bleeds for people killed in Mumbai and I penned these lines:

Terrorism has taken its toll

And will again take more

Call it intrusion, conflict, whatever

In Mumbai it was war;

History is a proof that nobody learns

From anyone’s mistake but ones own,

Wonder what cost it really takes

To drive certain points home;

More widows, fearless children

Old parents, bereft of support,

Hatred, suspicion, mutilated exchange

The new trade in import export;

Whoever began the drafting of maps

Could hardly have seen his scroll,

That the lines of division meant to protect

Would actually throw humanity out of control.
