I must commend that the editorial "Clearing the 3 crore backlog cases..." (TSI, September 20) has been written with an unprecedented flawless great skill. As a cop, I am of the view that following factors are responsible for alleged procrastination in delivering justice to the beleaguered victims in criminal cases – a)paucity of judicial officers in lower courts; b) dearth of fast track courts; c) incapability of police and other witnesses to appear in time for depositions; d) apathy and in some cases technical constraints in executing pending warrants; and engaging such a lawyer as public prosecutor who is an agent of ruling political party and who drags the cases rather unnecessarily for political interests. We must act on these grounds to ensure timely justice and speedy disposal of the cases.
