A backup plan

 

 

"The Rise of the Privates" highlighting that nearly five million private guards are taking up service is a very good news. It is true that the government can not provide guards for private institutions, malls, places of worship and so on. We must make use of those who are about 35-years-old and retiring from army or the police. We can also use those who have passed the B certificate examination in NCC and those who served for sometime in the Home Guards. The government must ensure that all private security guards undergo compulsory physical training every year and also undergo refresher courses on some important subjects like recognising bombs, explosives, human rights, first aid etc, so that they act as a backup force in times of emergency.
