An earthquake of 4.9 magnitude jolted Delhi at approximately 1:10 pm on Monday for a few seconds. No news of any casualties, or building collapses so far. Tremors were felt in Gurgaon, Ghaziabad and Noida as well.

The epicentre was near Bahadurgarh town near the Haryana-Delhi border region, just 35 km from New Delhi, the Indian Meteorological Department said.

Residents and office-goers in many areas in Delhi as well as Gurgaon and Noida felt the temblor.

Sources in Rohtak said the boundary wall of a school in Mayna village of Rohtak district collapsed. District authorities, however, could not confirm the incident.

Some people working and living in high-rise buildings in Gurgaon, which has the offices of several MNCs and leading Indian companies located there, were asked to vacate the buildings as the tremors were felt for over 10 seconds.
