Prasad's watch auction postponed as India intervenes

Rajendra Prasad's wrist watchFollowing India's intervention, prestigious American auction house Sotheby's has postponed auctioning of a wrist watch belonging to the first President Rajendra Prasad which his family alleged was stolen from them.
Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur, replying to a question in Lok Sabha, said the wrist watch was to be auctioned on November 13 last year in Switzerland but
following government's intervention Sotheby's agreed to postpone it.
"At the intervention of the government of India through the Indian missions in Switzerland and the UK, Sotheby's agreed to postpone the auction of the wrist watch to enable the Indian authorities to carry out investigation into the circumstances under which the watch was taken out of India," she said.
She said the family members of the former President have alleged that the watch was stolen from them.
