A MARTIAN QUERY! This, perhaps is the most anticipated expedition of this century NASA's mission to Mars in 2011! And to test the geology and climate of this fourth rock from the sun, the researchers have already started testing gadgets and devices for their ef ficiency on earth. Planetary scientists from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory of California are carrying out tests on a device called Chronos at the summit camp in Greenland, where the heat generated by the device would be regulated by turning the power on and off at regular intervals to mimic the frostier Martian climate. The Chronos will melt its way into thick sheets of ice on Mars and extract water through another pump for analysis and thus help decifer thousands of years of cosmic history.
