Two Algerian air force pilots died when their planes collided during a training exercise, the defence ministry said on Tuesday.

According to the communique, the accident occurred on Monday night in the skies over the western province of Tlemecen, bordering Morocco.

The ministry also said that a commission has been set up to investigate the causes and circumstances of the accident.

On Nov 9, six Algerians died in a crash in the town of Trelans, France, when their military cargo plane went down en route from Paris to the North African nation.
