SFI all India vice president and former firebrand state president Sindhu Joy has resigned from SFI and CPM. At the moment she is the CPM's Thiruvananthapuram district committee member. She not only resigned from the CPM parivar, but also joined Congress. The day she resigned from CPM, she visited Indira Bhavan, KPCC head quarters in Thiruvananthapuram. From there she went to the Congress-led United Democratic Front election convention in Puthuppalli, Kottayam. Former chief minister and present leader of the opposition in Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy contests from that constituency. KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala gave her the primary membership of the Congress party. Sindhu Joy had locked the horns with Oommen Chandy there during the last elections.

Sindhu was a dynamic leader of SFI and has been associated with the organization for the last 16 years. She had  undergone several inhuman police tortures for leading several anti -Congress led UDF government policies including anti-self financed colleges. For several years, she had to depend on crutches after getting injured in a police grenade attack during an SFI struggle. She fought against present Union Minister Prof. K V Thomas  during the parliament elections of 2009. So far she has not succeeded in any public elections. But, since the last more than a year, people did not hear much about her. There were rumours that CPM leader Neelolpal Basu had shouted at her during  an SFI central committee meeting. Allegations levelled against were several: That she does not take an active organizational role was the first among them. Then another one was that she sang for a Christian devotional song CD. One thing she has revealed after quitting the party is that  she has been a believer from the very childhood.

In personal life, Sindhu was always unlucky. She lost her parents during the childhood. Since she has been a bright student despite her busy schedules she passed her exams with exemplary marks. Now, she has submitted her PHD thesis and awaiting the doctorate. Sources close to her say that she sang for the devotional CD to cover the educational expenses.

It is said that CPM's loss is Congress's gain.
