Rahul in J&K with strong business delegation

Rahul Gandhi in JKCongress general secretary Rahul Gandhi reached on a two day tour to Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.  He laid the foundation stone of the ambitious 6.5 km long tunnel through Zoji La. The tunnel project is aimed at providing all-weather connectivity between the Valley and Ladakh region.

The Congress leader brings along a strong business delegation that includes Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumaramangalam Birla, Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd chairman Deepak Parekh, Bajaj Auto Ltd managing director Rajiv Bajaj and Wipro Ltd chairman Azim Premji.

This is for the first time in the history of the state that such powerful business delegation is assembling to take stock of the situation. The programme of the bussiness community has been charted to address the corporate concerns and explore prospects for investment in the state.
Apart from the business big wigs, Delhi chief minister Shela Dikshit and Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi are also expected to join Gandhi in his later itinerary in the state.

On Friday, Rahul is scheduled to meet a gathering of students at Kashmir University.

He will also meet panchayat members of the Valley who have been threatened by the militants.
