If Prabhu Deva is hailed as India’s Michael Jackson, most will agree. He can also be saluted as an ace choreographer, without doubt and most stars will agree. His avatar as B-town director is also pretty cool with both Wanted & Rowdy Rathore storming the BO and zooming past today’s established hit-template: Rs. 100 crores! So, friend Deva rocks here too. However, with R… Rajkumar, his honeymoon seems to have hit a rough spot.

For one, déjà vu – clichéd, repetitive – themes & formulaic treatment works brilliantly in movies but only if you have star power to pull it through. The Khans are past-masters at this, even Ajay & Akshay.Deva’s earlier super-hits [despite being South remakes] had Salman & Akki in lethal, audience-friendly action mode – and they just blew away the audiences! Here, the goon-meet-girl-& goes–straight narrative needed somebody with more star-wattage – and weightage – than young Shahid Kapoor.

Young, charming, boyish, this gifted actor [reeling with flops galore] is more Romeo than Rambo … and that disturbs the equation. In the romantic, tapori & sing-dance routine, he is super. But wham-bang … he is, oooops!Sonakshi is getting boring & predictable as the desi babe.Ashish Vidyarthi, Sonu Sood & gang do their gritting teeth, rolling eyes, yelling with usual gusto, but with no big returns.

Time for Prabhu Deva to either try something new or stick to the big boys.Remember, clichés need Super Stars!
