Arvind Kejriwal hasn’t ducked the probe, but asked the Congress and the BJP to open themselves to a similar investigation. The moral high ground that the Congress and the BJP have taken interestingly overlooks their own funding by the Vedanta Group, which is a foreign company listed on London Stock Exchange. This fact came up during a PIL alleging that both parties had violated the People’s Act (RPA) 1951 and Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA) by taking donations from government companies and foreign sources, which is prohibited under both the legislations. A recent analysis by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) reveals that 82.5 percent and 73 percent of the funding of the Congress and the BJP respectively comes from unknown sources. The point is this: has the Congress opened up a pandora’s box, particularly at a time like this?
