Fast and Furious returns with another leave-your-brains-at-the-door thrill ride which is as good or as bad as it was last time depending on your judgement.
Those who have never seen any of the previous films as well as those who believe that movie sets are only for blowing up will definitely enjoy this movie.
This time it is the Gridiron Gang badass Dwayne Johnson (who also seems to be having second thoughts on his film career) who is thrown into the mix where there is already too much muscle. He plays Luke Hobbs: a diplomatic security service agent with all the machismo, lack of facial expressions, thunderous rampage you expect from him. On that count the movie is good. Vin Diesel of course is the leader of the gang and does his usual with some super cool catch phrases thrown in.
I will be chastised by the Fast and Furious fan crowd if I do not write a word about its high speed chases and cars. Yes, it does have a bunch of cars you will never buy and chase sequences you hope to never be a part of and this time the sequences are better than ever before although some border on absurdity.
This time I felt the plot was far better than last time. It had a lot more depth and emotions than any of the previous films. The humour was also spot on and used very strategically between super high-octane, heart pumping sequences.
Fast and Furious 6 is a film you will enjoy watching with friends whom you don't really want to meet everyday. If you want to see a film which will intellectually stimulate you and start a dinner conversation, this isn't it... high thrills and roadside frills.... you betcha!
