Despite official claims of hightened security measures, bomb attacks continue against candidates and workers just a day ahead of the assembly polls in Manipur.

A improvised electronic device (IED) exploded in the constituency of Chief minister O Ibobi at Thangmeiband injuring one person.

Manipur will go to polls on Saturday.

The ruling Congress party is seeking power for the record of third consecutive term.

The Congress led government has already created history by completing second consecutive five years term. No party or government in Manipur has achieved such record.

CorCom, a group of eight militant organisation, had issued threats to the Congress candidates, its workers and supporters and warned people not to vote for Congress.

One intresting feature of the Manipur election 2012 is the joining of Naga People’s Front (NPF), ruling party in neighbouring Nagaland, in the electoral battle in Manipur.
