Indo-US Rift

Amidst strained relations between India and the US over the Indian diplomat’s arrest in New York, US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz (below) has cancelled his trip to India. The India-US Energy Dialogue was considered to be important for both the countries as it aims to promote trade and investment in the energy sector. State Department Spokesperson Jen Psaki said: “We remain committed to holding this dialogue and we’ll look for a time to hold it.” Earlier, US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia Nisha Desai Biswal had also postponed her January 6 visit to India.
