IIPM awards litterateurs from B'desh, India

Five leading litterateurs from India and Bangladesh on Thursday felicitated at the IIPM-Surama Chowdhury Memorial International Award at Kalakunj, Kolkata.

Sunil Gangopadhyay, Samaresh Majumdar and Prafulla Roy (all from India) and Imdadul Haq Milan and Selina Hossain (both from Bangladesh), were honored with the USD 100,000 IIPM-Surama Chowdhury Memorial International Award for their contributions to literature.

Each of the awardees received Rs. 10,00,000 as the prize amount, a gold medallion and a citation. IIPM also declared the institution of a foundation of Rs. 10,00,000 in memory of Late Akhtaruzzaman Ilyas, a noted novelist from Bangladesh to award future talents in literature from the income generated from there.
