Centre grants Rs 60 cr for schools in JK

For opening new schools and upgrading the existing ones under Rashtriya Madhyamic Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), Centre has granted Rs 60 crore to the Jammu and Kashmir government.

"Central government has allocated Rs 60 crore under RMSA for opening and upgrading High and Higher Secondary Schools in every constituency of the state," the Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla said while addressing a gathering here today.

"69 schools would be upgraded under the scheme across the state," he said after inaugurating newly upgraded government High School at Qasim Nagar here.

Bhalla informed that Rs 58 lakh would be spent on construction of additional rooms and 15 lakh for science laboratories in each newly upgraded high and higher secondary schools across the state.
