Rich tributes were paid to Captain Lakshmi Sehwag with Krishna Basu, Netaji’s daughter-in-law describing her as a glorious personality of India Freedom Movement.

Personally, I can say, she and her husband Prem (Prem Kumar Sehgal) was like our family member. I have rich collection of her memories to share in due time. I have been in touch with her daughter Suhasini since she was admitted to hospital. Even we talked this afternoon also when she informed me of her last wish that her body be donated to the hospital for the sake of medical science, Krishna Basu said.

Terming Captain Lakshmi Sehgal a courageous and compassionate woman, Biman Basu, State Secretary, CPI-M, said, “She was an inspiring and courageous freedom fighter, dedicated and compassionate doctor in the service of the poor. We are deeply mourned. She has also played a remarkable role in treatment of injured people and Mukti Joddhas in the border area relief camps during the liberation war of Bangladesh.”

Terming the death of Capt. Lakshmi Sehgal, end of an era, Purabi Roy, Netaji Researcher said, “She was one of the towering personalities of Indian National Army, like G S Dhillon, P K Sehgal (whom she married later), Shashnawaz Khan, Col. Chatterjee or Habibur Rehman. Habibur, along with several top INA leaders, settled in Pakistan after partition. In that sense, she was the last living pillar if INA and her demise brings end of an era. Though we met only once, but whenever I send somebody to her for her help in research work, she always gave importance to that.

Japan agreed to eliminate Netaji; In WW-I, Japan was an ally of British. Before WW-II, Japan-US trade war and political war started, this led to actual war between US and Japan. So British became an enemy to Japan by diplomatic manipulation as US - British alliance was there. After WW-II, Japan revived their old connection with British via spies. Japanese and British spies were enough linked before WW-II. Japanese spies agreed to eliminate Netaji. Motive was to appease the British and purchase security for Japan royal family. Thus, Japan sold Netaji to British and British eliminated him. The false news of air crash was Japan’s fabrication. In any controversial case, liar is to be suspected first. Netaji’s plan to start second independence war with the help of USSR was known to Japan. There was enough scope for British and Japanese spies to develop a common minimum program against pro-communist agenda of Netaji. Why should Japanese imperialism agree to patronize emergence of independent India as a permanent communist ally? Is it not more logical to fulfill British condition and purchase favor? Why Japan royal family was not tried as a war criminal? What is the mystery behind this favor? Japan agreed to eliminate Netaji; In WW-I, Japan was an ally of British.
