Following the death of an MBBS student Anil Kumar Meena on Sunday, the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) of All India Institute of Medical Sciences and students union sought the removal of the director for not implementing the recommendations of the committee set up two years ago.
The students union and RDA have decided to approach the Health Ministry in this regard.
Disclosing this Dr Sudipta Ranjan Singh, the RDA president said, “We stand united over the problems faced by the undergraduate students, we will be holding a meeting in the evening to decide further course of action.”
He said that the recommendations of the committee, which was set up in 2010, after a student had committed suicide with an objective, that in future no students due to stress or for other reasons take such extreme step.
“Unfortunately, some of the recommendations of the committee were not followed and it is sad that another young student resorted to this extreme step”, he added.
On Sunday, the body of 22-year-old Anil Kumar Meena, an undergraduate student of AIIMS was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his hostel room. No suicide note was recovered from him.
