Baby girl Atmaja is still waiting in her hospital bed at Cuttack's SCB Medical college for her parents to come and take her home. The two months old baby has been deprived of parental care since her birth after the alleged child swapping controversy.

Atmaja was born on March 30, 2012 in SCB medical college. But controversy erupted when her mother, Rashmita Mallick alleged that she gave birth to a baby boy but the hospital staff swapped it with a baby girl.

To settle the dispute, the Cuttack collector ordered a DNA test.

Meanwhile, the hospital staff is taking care of the child after she was moved to a special cabin adjunct to the gynea ward. Five nurses have been deputed to take care of the baby.

“The baby is completely well and her condition is normal. We are taking care of the baby,” said Dr Shyama Kanungo, the Head of the department of gynecology.

The hospital authority is bearing all the expenses of the baby after the directions given by Odisha High Court.

The medical superintendent and Cuttack collector are advised to report the court about the health of the girl on regular basis.

According to superintendent of hospital, the DNA samples have been sent to the forensic laboratory at Hyderabad. We are expecting the report soon and Atmaja will go home with her original father and mother.'
