Why This Kolaveri Di: The Flop Song
"These days anyone can sing, thanks to the technology available," says Dhanush, the South Indian action hero, and he did sing! The song, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, Dhanush, his wife Aiswarya and Shruti Hassan, went viral on Youtube and received millions and millions of hits with in a span of a few days. The song won fans and foes alike. Soon, many parodies of 'Kolaveri Di' was out on the web. The Pakistani parody of the song, took a sarcastic dig at the state of democracy in the troubled nation. The Hindi version, ‘Distance pe mere chand chand, mar gayi meri neend’, is all set to rock the floor again.
Chammak Challo, Ra.One
Well known rapper Akon's rendition of 'Chammak Challo' to the tunes of Vishal-Shekhar was a huge hit dance number. Sunidhi Chauhan accompanied Akon with her vocals. Though, Ra.One was a damp squib for King Khan but the song still remains a chartbuster. Another song 'Dildara' from the same movie, sung by Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan is also a nice Sufi number.
Dhinka Chika, Ready
A remake of the hit Telegu song 'Ringa Ringa' composed by Devi Sri Prasad, Dhinka Chika is one of the most frivolous songs of Bollywood to which no doubt India started shaking legs with out prompting. Written by Ashish Pandit and sung by Mika Singh and Amrita Kak the song defined 'masti'. Another number from the same movie, 'Character Dheela' penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya and rendered by Neeraj Sridhar also rocked the dance floors. Songs of another Salman Khan super hit, Bodygurad, too were instant sensation. 'Teri Meri' became very popular as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Shreya Ghosal rendered breathed life in to the lines writen by Shabbir Ahmed. 'Desi Beat' by Mika Singh from the same movie added spice to the list of best songs in 2011. Himesh Reshammiya once again created groove with his music.
Bhaag DK Bose, Delhi Belly
This song created history as one of the most equivocal song that was liked by all making it a natural contender for the top rank in the hit charts. Composed and sung by Ram Sampath with chunky lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya 'Bhaag DK Bose' will always be remembered as one of the best nasty songs of Bollywood.
Dhunki, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan
After the flashy item number 'Shila Ki Jawani', Katrina Kaif once again jammed the floors by featuring in the sizzling song 'Dhunki'. Smoking beedi and flaunting a sexy guitar hung around her shoulder, Katrina made many a youth imitate her. Neha Bhasin's voice worked and the song written by Irshad Kamil and composed by Sohail Sen went up the charts.
Aa Zara, Murder 2
Yana Gupta is someone who can bring out the best even out of a common place item number. And she just did it once again in Murder 2 stepping up for Aa Zara. The grappling composition by Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur turned out to be a one of the most popular songs of the year. Sunidhi Chauhan breathed magic in to the lyrics written by Kumaar. 'Hale Dil' by Harshit Saxena and 'Phir Mohabbat' by Mohammad Irrfan and Arijit from the same flick too can be listed in the most romantic songs of the year 2011 cast spelled by Mithoon's music. Adding to the list romantic songs of 2011, one more song comes into mind is the 'Rabba' from the movie 'Mausam'. Sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, music by Pritam, Irshad Kamil yet again used his pen in a nice way for this heart warming number.
Laung Da Lashkara, Patiala House
This song featuring Akshay Kumar-Anushka Sharma along with the romantic pair of 70s, 'Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia' is full with the heart beat of Punjab, written by Anvita Dutt Guptan. Mahalakshmi Iyer, Hard Kaur, Jasbir Jassi did a decent job lending their voice to the composition by Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy. 'Raula Pe Gaya' is also a good dance number to shake your legs.
Punjabi songs in the year 2011 reminds us of one another funky number, 'Sadi Galli' by Lehmber Hussainpuri from the low-budget movie, 'Tanu Weds Manu'. Also check out, 'Jugni' by Mika Singh from the same movie.

If you just want to be spell bound with intoxicating music, listen to the title track of the movie 'Dum Maro Dum' sung by Anushka Manchanda and composed by our lovable Pritam. Nicely written by Jaideep Sahni with a dash of lines from the famous old one 'Hare Krishna Hare Ram'.

'Party all night' is the call of this number exclusively for the youth. Though the movie didn't fare well, this rocking song definitly made it to the charts. Singer Hard Kaur and composer Jigar-Sachin knew quite well how to make the heads go BANG! Sameer's words adds life to it.
Ooh La La, The Dirty Picture
After a long gap, Bappi Lahiri re-enters the scene with a bash to make 'Ooh La La' a resounding success. The duet with sweet Shreya Ghosal is quite chicky.
Sadda Haq, Rockstar
A perfect combination of lyrics, music and rendition makes the songs of the movie an soulful album to keep forever. AR Rahman once again is at his best with the extremely talented singer Mohit Chauhan. Irshad Kamil is certainly the show stealer for the year 2011 with so many hits in his kitty.
